Congratulations to Maurice Cooper - Bygone Beautys at Leura
Maurice Cooper, Owner of Bygone Beautys in the Blue Mountains, was awarded the Order of Australia in the recent Queen’s Birthday Honours List for his outstanding fundraising work.
Maurice’s fundraising work is extensive and includes raising funds for organisations like People Living with HIV/AIDS, Nepean and Blue Mountains Prostate Cancer Group, Opera and Arts Support Group and scholarships, the Rotary Clubs of Katoomba and Central Blue Mountains and the National Trust of Australia through Everglades Gardens.
He also founded Cancer Support in the Blue Mountains, fundraised for the Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children and organised fundraising events for the Blue Mountains Rural Fire Service.
“It came as a great honour,” said Maurice. “I’m just a catalyst, that’s the way I see myself, so in receiving this award it really belongs to the community who supported all the fundraising events.”
Bygone Beautys Cottages are beautifully appointed and perfect for weekend getaways. Bygone Beautys also includes a traditional silver service tearoom in Leura as well as an antique and collectables emporium and a teapot collection with over 3,000 pieces, both in Leura.
Famil Club congratulates Maurice for his Medal and also for his efforts in supporting his local community.
