In reviews posted to travel booking site TripAdvisor, the East Hotel was praised for its convenient Canberra Avenue location, its level of service and the quality of its food.

"Spent a two-night weekend break here with my sister who lives in Australia. I must say it was perfect," gushed one guest.

"A great room, lovely linen and towels. Everything you needed if you wanted to dine in your room. But why would you with Joe's Bar and Muse restaurant just downstairs."

Canberra now boasts one of the best hotels in the country according to a mammoth nationwide survey.

The East Hotel in Kingston was ranked sixth in TripAdvisor's Travellers Choice awards, based on the strength of visitor reviews given in the past year.
