Costao do Santinho Resort Golf e Spa  Event Manager

Responsible for the organisation and planning of small, medium and large corporate events and congresses focusing on profitability and customer retention. Coordinated major international events that attracted worldwide media exposure, such as the International Whaling Commission Meeting in 2018 and the 9th World Travel & Tourism Council Meeting.

Negotiation:
- Responsible for quoting and negotiating with clients, travel agencies and event production companies who contacted the hotel directly.
- Liaised with operations and sales to accurately price events based on requirements.
- Contacted other departments as need.
- For instance, collaborated with the hotel chef in the creation of set-price menus.
- Client portfolio included: Monsanto, Dow Dupont Pioneer, Nestle, McDonalds, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Honda, Ford, Nissan, Hyundai, Volkswagen, Renault, HSBC, Johnson & Johnson, Unilever, Kraft, Procter & Gamble, Avon, Wela, Pfizer, Novartis, Sanofi, Merck, Ache, Bayer, MSD, GSK,Merck, Syngenta, Basf, Petrobras, Rafzen, Gerdau, Exxon Mobil, Google, Apple, IBM, Siemens and Samsung.

People Management:
- Managed a team of 12 staff and was responsible for hiring new employees, managing performance, enforcing compliance with Occupation Health and Safety regulations and hotel laws and regulations.

Leadership:
- Took part in leadership meetings and presented event results / client feedback from previous events and upcoming ones.
- Analysed complaints and determined strategies to address them, improve service and client satisfaction.

Accomplishments:
- Managed national and international congresses in the following sectors: Orthopaedics, Cardiology, Neurology, Plastic Surgery, Chemical and Electrical Engineering, Physics and Education.

Event Specialist Responsible for link between Sales and Operations teams. Coordinated all activities and services hired for the event, providing support to clients, meeting their needs and supervising hotel staff teams involved in each event.

Accomplishments:
- Planned and coordinated the “FIFA 2014 Soccer World cup Team Workshop” held at the resort. The event hosted representatives from 32 countries, umpires, FIFA representatives and over 250 journalists from all over the world.
- Liaised with the state government, interstate event producers, FIFA representatives and hotel staff. The event was a success and granted the hotel worldwide exposure.
- Received a letter from Mr. Jose Maria Marin, President of the Organising Committee, thanking her for the services provided and her competence.

Event Supervisor  Responsible for planning events and negotiating contracts with clients. Had autonomy to issue up to 27% discount and to authorise refunds. Also had accommodation sales targets that were consistently met.

Planning:
- Addressed client enquiries, conducted venue tours, provided information and quotes for room hire, catering, entertainment, accommodation and other services.
- Negotiated fees and kept in direct contact with clients prior to their events.
- Tried to accommodate clients’ extraordinary requests, such as hosting events at the hotel beachfront (an area opened for the general public area) which implied involving the local council, getting permits, studying sea tides, managing public access, etc; placing a truck inside a meeting room or even filling meeting rooms with tons of sand to bring “the beach” to the meeting room.

Pre-event activities:
- Created event orders in the hotel system to inform other departments of event needs (such as catering, cleaning, food & beverage, events, reception, booking, security, logistics and entertainment), created bookings (such as meeting rooms and accommodations), provided client invoicing details and liaised with client prior to event to ensure event went according to plan / informed hotel departments of any changes.

During the event:
- Helped, negotiated extra services and addressed any issues.

Post-event:
- Reviewed account, approved suppliers’ invoices and approved the final client invoice to ensure accuracy.
- Wrote reports and filed event documentation for auditing purposes.
Event Assistant Became the link between the client and the event supervisor.
Addressed most of the clients’ requests, liaising and informing other hotel departments accordingly.
- Prepared meeting rooms prior to events, ensuring they were clean, tidy and both layout and resources met clients’ specifications.
- Monitored service orders and consumption to ensure accurate billing.
- Replenished office supplies and Service Centre products, as required.

Accomplishment:
- Hard work and dedication didn’t go unnoticed, as was soon promoted to Event Supervisor.
